Introduction
One of the most common questions we receive from customers is about
licencing. How does it work? What does a tenant mean? Can I use the
same licence across multiple environments?
This post answers all of those questions clearly and simply.
What is a Tenant Licence?
A tenant licence gives you the right to install and use a web part
within one Microsoft 365 tenant. A tenant is a single Microsoft 365
organisation — identified by a unique tenant ID.
Most small and medium businesses have a single tenant. Large
enterprises or Microsoft partners managing multiple clients may
have several.
One-Time Purchase vs Subscription
We offer two ways to licence our web parts:
One-Time Purchase
Pay once and use the web part forever within your licensed tenant.
Includes 12 months of free updates and 30 days of email support.
After 12 months, the web part continues to work — you simply won't
receive new feature updates unless you renew.
Microsoft Marketplace Subscription
Purchase via Microsoft AppSource on a monthly or annual billing
cycle. Always includes the latest updates and full support for the
duration of your subscription. Cancel at any time.
Development and Test Environments
Your tenant licence covers production use. If you need to test in
a separate development tenant, contact us — we provide free
developer licences for registered customers.
Getting the Most Value
Buy the annual subscription if you want predictable costs and
always-current software. Choose the one-time purchase if you have
a stable environment and don't need frequent updates.
Conclusion
Licencing doesn't have to be complicated. Our goal is to make it
as straightforward as possible so you can focus on building a
great intranet, not managing contracts.
