Getting Started with SharePoint Web Parts

Introduction

SharePoint web parts are the building blocks of any modern intranet.

Whether you're adding news feeds, employee directories, or custom

dashboards, web parts make it possible without writing a single line

of code.

In this guide we'll walk through everything you need to know to get

your first web part up and running.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

- A Microsoft 365 licence with SharePoint Online

- SharePoint administrator permissions in your tenant

- Access to the SharePoint App Catalog

Step 1 — Download Your Package

After purchasing a web part from the Intranet in a can store,

navigate to My Purchases in your account. Download the .sppkg file

to your local machine.

Step 2 — Upload to the App Catalog

Open your SharePoint Admin Center and navigate to the App Catalog.

If you don't have one set up, you'll need to create it first under

Apps > App Catalog.

Drag and drop the .sppkg file into the Apps for SharePoint library.

SharePoint will ask if you want to make the app available to all

sites — select Yes for tenant-wide deployment.

Step 3 — Add to Your Page

Navigate to any SharePoint page and click Edit. Click the + button

to add a new web part and search for the product name. Click to add

it to your page and configure it using the property pane on the right.

Step 4 — Activate Your Licence

Open the web part settings and enter your licence key. The key is

tied to your Microsoft 365 tenant ID and only needs to be entered once.

Conclusion

Getting started with SharePoint web parts is straightforward once

you understand the process. With Intranet in a can web parts, you

get professionally built components that follow Microsoft's design

guidelines and work seamlessly with your existing SharePoint environment.
